The report reviews national and state research that identifies key components of effective out-of-school time (OST) programs, including academic achievement, learning outcomes, return on investment and helping families. The report also highlights specific Pennsylvania examples and recommendations include making OST investments a priority, adopting quality guidelines and effectively aligning resources and building partnerships to benefit more of Pennsylvania’s children.

During the announcement the Caucus leaders highlighted the hundreds of programs across the state sponsoring the 2016 Lights On Afterschool. This nationwide event promotes the importance of quality afterschool programs in Pennsylvania. Last year, more than one million people celebrated the importance of and demand for afterschool.
